The new care building is located in the northern part of the plot, next to the current mental health hospital building.

Adaptation to the environment// The new care building is located in the northern part of the plot, next to the current mental health hospital building. Access is from the east end, through the existing street that communicates with the rest of the care buildings.
In this way, the building follows the existing structure in which all the care buildings are aligned in the upper part of the plot forming a care pill. These buildings are connected from the outside by a main street, in addition to their continuity in the semi-basement through the technical gallery.

Organization and Outline// The new care building consists of a ground floor, 2 first floors and a semi-basement floor. Its geometry is an L-shaped volume with perpendicular bars located on the northern side of the plot generating an outdoor patio for residents in the southern area, ensuring sun exposure throughout the day.

Hospitalization floors are distributed from a central corridor with rooms on both sides with natural light. The bar located on the northeast side houses the access program with a main lobby and visiting rooms, connected to the administration area and common rooms.

In addition, the new building has access to services and an ambulance in the basement extending the existing ramp that communicates with the mental health building. In this way, a route parallel to the main one is generated for exclusive service use away from public circulation.

Singularity and character// The new healthcare building is part of a Master Plan for the entire hospital complex, so its implementation in the place and its relationship with the outside respond to two different scales. On the one hand, the building is implanted giving continuity to the main pedestrian street that forms the backbone of the sequence of care buildings and, on the other hand, it closes in on itself around the patio for the exclusive use of residents.

Sustainability criteria// The design of the new care building addresses the values of sustainability and balance with the environment in a global way, the resolution of the facade by means of a ventilated facade, but with two heavy sheets to, in addition, comply with the security requirements given by the type of program and user.
